FEM Cordova Fighters was created by Coach Maddox and Coach Ferds with one simple mission — to give kids in Cordova, Cebu a better path and a stronger future through boxing, mentorship, and community.
When the program first started, the coaches began training local kids with passion and dedication, creating a safe and positive environment for them to grow. Early on, we joined one of the training sessions and immediately saw both the potential of the program and the needs within the community. From that moment, we decided to work alongside them to help grow the initiative into something bigger and more impactful.
Cordova, Cebu is an area that faces many social challenges, including gang activity, drugs, and poverty in some neighborhoods. Many young people grow up surrounded by negative influences and difficult choices. FEM Cordova Fighters was built to give kids another option — a positive community where they can build friendships, discipline, confidence, and purpose instead of turning to gangs or life on the streets.
What makes this program special is that the kids are never forced into it. We simply give them a choice. We want them to decide for themselves whether they want to follow a destructive path or become part of something positive that can help shape their future. Thankfully, many of them choose the program because we make it fun, rewarding, and supportive. From training sessions and friendly competition to prizes and mentorship, the kids feel like they belong to a real brotherhood.
One of our biggest goals is currently becoming a reality — building a boxing gym in the area where the kids can train for free, even when organized sessions are not happening. Instead of spending time on the streets, they will have a safe space where they can focus their energy, stay active, learn valuable life lessons, and continue growing both as athletes and as individuals.
FEM Cordova Fighters is about much more than boxing. It is about guidance, opportunity, discipline, and creating a community that believes in the potential of every child.
